Who Is Laura Mehlinger?
In order to fully understand and appreciate the Lola Haze™ brand, it is necessary for you to learn and know where the designer came from and what she is all about. Although always a lover of fashion, Laura Mehlinger originally went off to Harvard for an English Major but frequently found herself finding any excuse that she could come up with to base her articles around clothing, or fashion in general. Her respect and appreciate for the fashion industry started when she was just a child. As soon as she could hold a needle, Laura began reconstructing her personal wardrobe, from cutting up thirts and sewing them to fit differently, or completely creating a new outfit from a slab of fabric from the farmers market. Laura loved this kind of art and carried it on throughout her life, well into her English Major which is when she admitted to herself that her true love and desire was with clothing and the fashion industry. Could an English Major and fashion appreciation be combined to satisfy all her loves of life?
How Did Lola Haze™ Come About?
After graduating from Harvard with a BA in English, Laura Mehlinger held down several design positions, specifically at Gap Inc. Once being titled Harvard's "Ace Student of Fashion" by the Boston Global, Laura Mehlinger decided to take her one-person show to the next level of women's wear and created Lola Haze™. Sounds easy enough, right? Wrong! Finding inspiration was a little bit harder then just taking her love and making it physically appealing within clothing. Lola Haze™ designer Laura Mehlinger traveled the world for a year long, on a solo trip in search for exotic objects, materials, fabrics and stories that could be implemented within her line. After finding all the different, quirky pieces she needed for inspiration, Laura Mehlinger began creating Lola Haze™ based simply around the element of surprise. Now that she had the inspiration, design and idea's down - Laura Mehlinger still had not come up with the name, Lola Haze™. With a simple thought back to her thesis from her English days at Harvard, Laura remembered a novel character named Lolita and a light bulb immediately went off. An iconic representation of the complex, and sexually powerful woman would be her lingerie brand. It would be her Lola Haze™.
